Firstly, each patient will have a consultation with Dr Selvan Govender. You will be able to relax and discuss what you would like to change about your smile. No adjustment is too small!
After the initial consultation, you will be invited back to our practice. Then, you will have scans of your teeth taken using the latest technology.
Fortunately, this is simple and pain-free. The number of aligners you will need is personal to each patient. In other words, it depends on the complexity of the case.
Once we have received your aligners, what’s next? First of all, we can book you in to have them fitted. How do we get the aligners working? We need to add small attachments to some of the teeth.
Positioning
Their exact position is specific to each patient. Furthermore, small attachments are placed on the teeth using a composite. This is tooth coloured but will not be visible.
We will show you how to wear your aligners. Additionally, how to keep your teeth and aligners clean and healthy. You will also be given your starter kit. The kit includes an aligners box and some cleaning crystals with instructions. We will then schedule regular appointments with you. This ensures you are happy with the progress of your smile.
How to use Invisalign
Each aligner is kept in for a minimum of 22 hours a day.
- Take aligners out at mealtimes so acidity from foods and drinks cannot stay in the aligners and around the teeth.
- Cleaning your aligners can be done when tooth brushing – clean them gently using your toothbrush and cold water. Hot water can warp the shape of your aligners so please try to steer clear.
Cleansing tablets can be used to deep clean your aligners if needed.
