COVID Protocols

COVID Protocols

Appointments:

Do you have an appointment scheduled? If you feel well and healthy, you should still attend this as planned. However, COVID protocols may affect whether this is possible.

If guidelines change, we will contact you directly. Therefore, we need to rearrange your appointment in line with COVID protocols.

You should NOT attend your appointment if you have COVID-19 symptoms. In addition, the same applies if you are waiting to be tested or receive test results for COVID-19. Furthermore, if you are currently self-isolating or are in quarantine after returning from abroad, do not attend. Please contact the practice as soon as you know that you will be unable to attend your appointment.

What we are doing to keep you safe:

Rest assured, the health and safety of our patients and team are a top priority. As a result, we have initiated several COVID protocols to prevent further transmission and keep everyone safe.

This includes:

  • Increased infection control and sanitisation procedures throughout the day and before and after every patient
  • Extra PPE for all clinical staff
  • Completing Covid-19 checks with each patient before and on the day of their appointment
  • Temperature Checking all staff and patients on arrival to the practice
  • Regular hand sanitising of staff throughout the day and every patient on arrival and on departure
  • Limiting the reception area to one patient at a time
  • A clear plastic screen installed at reception and disinfecting items used by staff and patients in between each use (eg card machine, pens, chairs etc)
  • Facemasks are worn by both staff and patients
  • Maintaining social distancing of 2m
  • Keeping our front door locked

If you have any concerns or worries at all, please don’t hesitate to telephone the practice. We will be more than happy to offer some help and advice, or even just a friendly ear.

Our new “normal” for appointments:

Please refer to the following guidance regarding our new appointment process:

Before your appointment

You will receive a confirmation by text or by e-mail. Please ensure that we still have the correct details on file for you.

You may be required to update your medical history details. If so, a link to complete this online will be sent to you by text or e-mail. It is important that you complete this prior to your appointment. Or, we may not be able to see you on the day without it.

Need to reschedule your appointment for any Covid-19 related reasons as previously advised above? Please contact the practice as soon as possible.

COVID Protocols

On the day of your appointment, our front door will be locked. So, you will need to call the practice on arrival. Please try and arrive as close to your appointment time as possible.

Please remember to wear your face mask. You will be able to remove this once you are comfortable in the dental chair.

Please try and bring limited belongings with you. Any coats or bags will be stored safely in a plastic box outside the surgery.

Inside the practice

You will be met at the door by one of our nurses, who will take your temperature.

You will then be asked a series of questions relating to Covid-19. Additionally, you will be asked to sanitise your hands.

If your temperature is at a normal level and we have no concerns regarding Covid-19, you will be led straight through to the surgery.

At your appointment

All our clinical team will be wearing extra PPE. Therefore, all treatment areas in the surgery are disinfected between each patient.

You can either book your next appointment at reception, if it is safe to do so, or phone later on to book.

On departure, you will be asked to sanitise your hands again.

Please note that we will not be able to see you for your appointment if your temperature is 37.8 degrees Celsius or above, or if any concerns are flagged up during our Covid-19 check.  If this is the case, you will be asked to go straight home (avoiding public transport) and contact NHS 111 for help and advice.
